Students are expected to provide their own instrument.
Local music stores rent and sell instruments.
Parents are encouraged to check with the band
director for advice regarding the specific brand of instrument to purchase. The school offers a limited rental program. For the most part, the larger
and more expensive instruments are available through this program. All students
using school-owned instruments must obey the rules as stated in the Fairfax
County instrument rental contract. Remember, the student is responsible for
proper maintenance of the instrument.
Percussionists do not need to purchase a drum, however they must pay a
minimal fee of $52 for the use of the percussion equipment in the band
room (this equipment stays in the band room). Please
read the
Requirements page for percussion supplies that must be purchased for
class.

INSTRUMENT SUPPLIES |
| |
|
Students must obtain all applicable supplies when buying or renting an
instrument. Some of these supplies may come with the instrument. Supplies can
be purchased at most area music stores. Method books, band sheet music,
and folders are provided to band members free of charge. These materials
are to be returned to the director in satisfactory condition. Failure to
return music in satisfactory condition or not at all will result in the student
being charged the cost of replacing the music. |
