Students are expected to practice on a consistent basis. All band
students are expected to turn in a practice record once a week.
Remember, the amount of practice directly affects the grade as well as
musical performance and mastery. Band rehearsals and sectionals
DO NOT count as practice sessions. Private lessons

Students
will lose 1/2 letter grade for each day a practice record is late.
No credit
will be given to a student who does not turn in a practice record during
the calendar week in which it is due.
HELPFUL HINTS FOR SUCCESSFUL PRACTICE
Determine your goals by asking questions of yourself, such as:
Are there any notes that are in a difficult range ? Are there
rhythms that I’m having trouble with?
Plan the order of your practice session.
Practice difficult passages slowly.
Use a metronome.
Record your session.
Save your favorite music selection for the end of the session.
Determine what improved, what didn’t and why.
Practice a few times each week; don’t cram a week’s worth of
practice into one or two sessions.
