CONCERT BAND I

Intermediate Band

Grades 7 and 8

Prerequisite: Successful Audition

Concert Band I serves the needs of students who have had at least one year of successful playing experience in the elementary school band or middle school beginning band and who need special training at the intermediate level.

Intermediate level band students will continue to develop skills on woodwind and brass instruments. A variety of musical styles will be studied through the playing of band literature. Rehearsals and performances outside of normal school hours will be required as a part of this course. Students in this course form one of the representative-performing bands of the school. Intermediate Band I has an emphasis placed on the sequential development of INTERMEDIATE to MEDIUM-ADVANCED technical skills and on the study of related literature. A variety of musical styles will be studied through the exploration of band literature.

This course requires a student materials fee as listed in FCPS Notice 5922.
